While light snow fell on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day was relatively quiet, but we've had wild extremes on Christmas Day before.
Let's start with some of the warmest; Winner leads the pack with a record high of 66 degrees, which happened in 1979, followed by Rapid City. Pierre and Huron have record highs of 56 degrees on Christmas Day. Sioux Falls’ record sits at 50.
The coldest Christmas morning on this list goes to Huron when the temp fell to -34 followed by Aberdeen's -25. Watertown, Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Winner all have record lows in the -20s Christmas Day.
Many still remember the snow from Christmas in 2009. That's when ten-and-a-half inches fell in Sioux Falls. That same year set records in Huron, Pierre and Watertown.
There's more cold air on the way later this week. We're also watching the last week of the year and the beginning of next year for more arctic air and a chance for snow.
