NEW YORK, NY -
Hundreds of children's hooded sweatshirts are being recalled because they break a federal law and could pose a strangulation hazard.
The Trail Crest boys and girls hooded sweatshirts have a drawstring and that's not allowed in children's clothing.
In 1997, the CPSC issued new guidelines about drawstrings in children's upper outerwear and made it a federal regulation 2011.
The CPSC's says it's issuing the recall because of its commitment to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on neck and waist drawstrings in jackets and sweatshirts.
Consumers are urged to remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard or return the garments to Trail Crest for a full refund.
You can contact Trail Crest at (800)965-6550 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. You can also email the firm at email@example.com.
