Watertown Police have released the name of a child who died as a result of head injuries earlier this week.
The child involved is 14-month-old Serenity Sea Boy. Authorities says the mother’s live-in boyfriend, 25-year-old Jay Barse, faces several charges in connection with the death.
Police responded to a report of an unconscious child on Wednesday. The girl was taken to a Watertown hospital before being air lifted to Sioux Falls. Police learned Friday that the child had died as a result of the injuries.
Barse is now being charged with second degree murder and will be in court Tuesday morning.
