Ceremony For SD National Guard Unit Wednesday

SPEARFISH, SD -
Nearly 160 South Dakota Army National Guard soldiers will be activated for service during a ceremony Wednesday at Black Hills State University in Spearfish.
The public is invited to attend and watch as the members of the Northern Hills-based 842nd Engineer Company prepare for a year-long deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m.
The mission of the 842nd company is to provide engineering and construction support, such as building and maintaining roads and developing airfields.
