CBB: Jacks Fall To Fort Wayne, 12-2
FORT WAYNE, IN -

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne put together three four-run innings, salvaging the final game of a four-game Summit League baseball series with a 12-2, seven-inning victory over South Dakota State Sunday afternoon at Mastodon Field.
The Mastodons improved to 15-23 overall and 7-5 in The Summit League. SDSU, which won the first three games in the series, dropped to 20-18 overall, 5-5 in league play.

SDSU drew first blood, scoring in the top of the second inning on a double by Matt Johnson that plated Paul Jacobson.
Fort Wayne took the lead for good in the third inning by batting around and scoring four times. Malcolm White, who was 3-for-3, doubled in the first two runs, and Lucas Salerno followed with a two-run single that knocked Jackrabbit starter Tyler Shannon out of the game.

Johnson drove in his second run of the game for SDSU in the top of the fourth, but the Mastodons put the game away by sending 10 men to the plate in a four-run home half of fht efourth. White and Salerno again drove in runs, with the final two runs scoring on a single by Carter DeBoe and bases-loaded walk to Kristian Gayday.
Fort Wayne put the 10-run rule in effect with a four-run sixth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Greg Kaiser.
The Mastodons held a narrow 8-7 advantage in hits, but five SDSU pitchers uncharacteristically combined to walk eight batters and hit five others.

SDSU’s seven hits came from only three players – Al Robbins was 3-for-3, while Johnson and Jacobson each tallied two hits.
The Jackrabbits return to home action Wednesday by hosting Dakota State in a 3 p.m. contest at Erv Huether Field.
