Hundreds of fisherman dropped a line in Catfish Bay today looking to reel in a big cash prize.
The third annual Ice Fishing Fest had anglers of all ages fishing the privately stocked lake. Whoever catches the biggest fish brought home $1,000. There was also other cash and prizes throughout the day. The event helps raise money for Catfish Bay's summertime hobby.
“We're a volunteer group out here at Catfish Bay. Our skiers and everyone that's involved in the show. So that's a fundraiser for our team, plus it's also a fundraiser for our youth camp called Camp On Aqua that happens this summer. It's a camp for kids that we take them waterskiing, tubing, fishing, canoeing, all sorts of water based activity, right here at Catfish Bay,” Catfish Bay President Jim Bruns said.
Last year there were over 500 ice fisherman and over 1,000 fish caught on the frozen lake.
