Today, thousands of people filled the streets of downtown Canton for the annual Canton Area Car Show.
The sound of car engines fills the streets of Canton during the annual car show. More than 350 vehicles come this year, ranging from Corvettes and Mustangs to Firebirds and Rat Rods. And while these cars are the focal point, participant Paul Roberts enjoys the social aspect of the show as well.
"People have some of the same cars, and so you can always learn things talking to other people, and car guys like to talk about their cars," car show participant Paul Roberts said.
Roberts and his wife both went to high school in Canton. He says this event is a good way for homeowners to take their minds off of the recent flooding.
"Tomorrow they'll go back to dealing with the damage on the house. But today's a fun day," Roberts said.
A weekend where car owners can show off their hard work, and in Richard Dant's case, his fire skills.
His 1946 Rat Rod is drawing a lot of attention at this year's show.
"When I light the skull up with flames, their reactions and their faces, it's what it's all about. That's what it's all about right there," car show participant Richard Dant said.
And when it comes to this small town in recovery, today was all about having a good time.
