Canaries Activate Giles
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

SIOUX FALLS, SD–  The Sioux Falls Canaries have activated relief pitcher, Josh Giles from the disabled list and released pitcher Erick Gonzalez.

Giles had been dealing with several lingering injuries before being placed on the DL on June 20th.  Prior to his injury, Giles had not allowed an earned run in 19 1/3 innings from July 25th of 2013 through June 2nd of 2014.  He last worked in back-to-back games against St. Paul on June 9th and 10th, allowing 5 runs in two innings.

Gonzalez made 13 relief appearances for the Canaries, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA.  In 18 2/3 innings, the 23 year old right-hander gave up 14 runs while striking out 12 batters, walking 14.

The Canaries begin a six-game roadtrip on July 4th in Kansas City and Wichita before returning to the Birdcage on Friday, July 11th against the Grand Prairie Air Hogs.  There will be live music at the ballpark after the game from "Endangered Orange" and fireworks presented by All-Star Fireworks, The Orthopedic Institute, and Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital.
