A local business is hoping to bring fresh fruit to KELOLAND and fresh funds to the Children's Miracle Network. The Fruit Club is one of many businesses helping to raise money for sick and injured kids in its own unique way.
Buying fruit off a truck is a good way to get the freshest product possible. This month, it's also a good way to make a difference in a child's life.
"I personally have a friend whose son has stage four cancer and I know how much Children's Miracle Network helped them with just expenses with gas. Getting back and forth to treatments and chemo and lodging and food. They were just an incredible help to them," Lynn Albers said.
That's why The Fruit Club is donating a portion of their proceeds to CMN this month. This past summer, the club raised more than $2,500 for kids by selling peaches.
"Sioux Falls is such a great community. We have so many businesses and organizations that support Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital," CMN's Andy Kvernmo said.
You don't have to live in Sioux Falls to take part in this effort. Anybody in the state of South Dakota can join in. Just go to TheFruitClub.net and place your order by February 19.
"This month, we're bringing in honey tangerines. They are the sweetest of all tangerines. They're from Florida. We're also bringing in ruby red grapefruit, also from Florida. If you're not a grapefruit lover, you're going to love these. They're amazing. You can peel them and eat them like an orange. They're very sweet. We also have Georgia pecans," Albers said.
