Building in Sioux Falls isn't outpacing last year's record. Construction values from January through April in the city are over $184 million. That's compared with $239 million from the same time period a year ago.
But more office, institutional and educational construction is happening than last year, due to in part a new school and several school remodeling projects and additions in Sioux Falls. The total value of construction in that area so far this year is $14.5 million.
And while not as many single-family homes have been built since the start of the year as last year, 417 apartments have gone up. That compares with 489 units last year at this time.
