BROOKINGS, SD -
In Brookings, people are digging out from eleven inches of snow.
"You know, its good aerobic exercise for the winter," Marilyn Anderson said.
For Pete and Marilyn Anderson, it took some teamwork to clear their driveway. The duo didn't just have to clean out their driveway; they also had to chop off the top of the mound the plows left behind because they couldn't see around it to avoid any oncoming traffic.
"When the graders come along, they keep windrowing it into my driveway. This is about my only place to put it," Pete Anderson said.
The Anderson's got some help from their neighbor who has a snow blower attached to the front of a riding lawn mower. But that neighbor ended up needing the favor returned when the end of the sidewalk got the best of him.
"We had no place to put it anymore. That's why I was glad it melted for a couple days. Now it built itself back up, so again, there's no place to put it," Marilyn Anderson said.
But even with the recent meltdown, Brookings residents say they've had plenty of this winter weather and spring can't come soon enough.
"I've been saying that on my Facebook, spring can't be far off," Marilyn Anderson said.
While the Anderson's try to stay positive, others are knee-deep in snow and fed up with the weather. The latest blast of winter has Randy Hook dreaming of a vacation, or a permanent change of address.
"I'd like to move somewhere warm. It sucks and I'm done with it," Hook said.
But by the looks of things here, the winter surroundings are sticking around for now.
All of the snow has also put some in Brookings on edge, because when last winter melted away, spring flooding surrounded and took over many homes.
