The Brookings City Council is holding its first meeting Wednesday night in the new $12 million city and county government center.
Brookings County commissioners held their inaugural session in the center on Tuesday morning.
The 76,000 square feet facility that took 14 months to build is designed to make it easier for residents to conduct official business. The move also frees up space at city hall and the old courthouse built in 1921.
City council members at their meeting are expected to award a contract connecting 32nd Avenue with the Highway 14 Bypass, allowing access to the new Bel Brands USA cheese plant.
