Boundary Lines Voted On

January 22, 2007, 6:00 PM by Don Jorgensen

Boundary Lines Voted On
Hundreds of Sioux Falls students will find out tonight if they have to switch schools next year.

The Sioux Falls school board is scheduled to vote on new boundaries for elementary and middle schools at Monday night's meeting. While the district knows it's not going to please everyone, it says it has to redraw the boundary lines to help balance attendance numbers.

Because of a growing population on Sioux Falls' west side, students who live in this area will no longer attend Memorial Middle School, next fall they'll be bussed to Edison.

And middle school students who live south of 18th street between Cleveland and I-229 and now attend Whittier, will be bussed to Patrick Henry.

The elementary boundaries are a little more confusing. Families who live on East Rice street who now attend Anne Sullivan would be bussed to Laura B. Anderson.

Students who live in the area between Rice and 10th street and between Cleveland Avenue and Interstate 229 would be bussed to Cleveland Elementary.

And, students who live between 6th and 10th, east of Sycamore would move to the new Rosa Parks elementary school.

Students who attend Cleveland that live between 10th street and 18th street, between I-229 and Cleveland would go to Eugene Field.
Students south of 18th street between Cleveland and 229 that go to Cleveland Elementary would go to Horace Mann.
Students east of Sycamore going to Cleveland between 10th street and 26th street would go to the new Rosa Parks elementary school.
