Bosworth Defends Post About Food Stamps
Annette Bosworth

South Dakota Republican U.S. Senate candidate Annette Bosworth is responding to criticism over her Facebook post about food stamps this week.

On Friday morning, Bosworth talked about the backlash she's receiving over a post that compared the dependence on the federal food stamp program to the dependence that can be caused by feeding wild animals at National Parks.

Bosworth 'Ruffles Feathers' With Facebook Post

Bosworth says the food stamp program has ‘mushroomed’ and she's glad her post has sparked a conversation about the topic.

"For some reason, it took fire. The comment is tongue-in-cheek. It is being taken quite literally, but if that's the price you pay for actually having a conversation about an issue than so be it,” Bosworth said during the Friday news conference.

Bosworth will talk about her post, the discussion it’s stirred and why she says this is the first time she's actually talking about real issues in her race for U.S. Senate coming up tonight on KELOLAND News.
