Book Helps Mother Cope With Miscarriage

June 21, 2012, 6:57 AM by Kellee Azar

Book Helps Mother Cope With Miscarriage

It's a book that's changed many lives and provided clarity. For one Sioux Falls woman, it strengthened her belief in Heaven on one of her darkest days.

While coping with the loss of her child, Becky Brunz found hope again through the eyes of a four-year-old in the book "Heaven Is For Real."

It was a book someone told Brunz she needed to read.  But it wasn't until the day she came home from the hospital after a miscarriage that she decided to pick it up.

"It was in the check out lane and I just knew that I needed to buy that book. And it was at a really hard time; it was the day that we knew we had to deliver the baby even though it had already died," Brunz said.

For Brunz, "Heaven Is For Real" is not only what helped her cope with her miscarriage but also her sons.

"And that was very significant for us to be able to tell the boys this is what a four-year-old saw in Heaven, that he got to see his little sister that died and that it wasn't just lost," Brunz said.

And the biggest message that Brunz took away from the book was the confidence that there is more to life than just what is here on Earth.

"It was something that was necessary to know that there was something more to get beyond that trauma and that terrible situation; to know that we will see those babies again," Brunz said.

With the help of this book along with the support of her family, it prepared Brunz for another big surprise just two months later.

"I asked if it were possible if the next baby would be healthy, that I would be pregnant before the due date and right now I am currently 26 weeks pregnant," Brunz said.

What this book did for Becky is exactly what the Sioux Falls Regional Outpouring hopes to accomplish when the family from the book visits Sioux Falls.

"I think it's good for anyone and everyone its important information/revelation that God has entrusted in this family," Sioux Falls Regional Outpouring Representative Gery Wingler said.

The "Heaven Is For Real" event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Sioux Falls Arena. Admission is free with a goodwill offering. For more information, visit the Sioux Falls Regional Outpouring website.
