'Boo Falls' Halloween Parade, Zombie Walk On Saturday

One of Sioux Falls’ most popular Halloween events is adding a parade to its lineup and hoping to attract more families this year.

The “Boo Falls” Halloween Parade and Zombie Walk will be held Saturday in downtown Sioux Falls. Organizers expect more than 2,000 people at this year’s event, which will be divided into two parts. Participants who aren’t dressed as zombies go first and the “walking dead” follow behind.

The parade starts at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Mall Ave and 10th Street, behind Skelly’s Pub. It will travel south on Phillips Avenue.  Zombie participants will stop in front of the State Theater for a group photo and the parade will end at 13th Street.

Organizers, including “Head Zombie” Kerry Roberts, are volunteering their time in hopes of creating a family friendly parade, followed by a party for adults, which both raise money for the State Theater restoration project.

The parade is free, but if you’d like your zombie make-up done before the event, it costs $5. An $8 wristband gets you live music and free beer at Vishnu Bunny and Skelly's Pub after the parade. Or you can buy a make-up session and wristband for $10. Donations will also be collected for the State Theater.

Roberts says he knows the temperatures will be brisk Saturday night, but he says that’s okay because “zombies don’t feel the cold.”

11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Parade Registration
1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Get Dead (Skelly’s Pub or Vishnu Bunny Tattoo)
5 p.m. - 6 p.m.: 1st Annual Boo Falls Halloween Parade & Zombie Walk
6:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: Costume winners announced
6 p.m. - 7 p.m.: Cleanup post parade
7 p.m. - Late: Live Music at Skelly’s Pub and Vishnu Bunny Tattoo
