A $10.5 million bond issue in the Tea School District failed by 14 votes Tuesday. It was just one percent shy of passing.
Of the 1270 total votes, 748 voted yes, while 522 voted against the issue.
Although the majority voted yes, bond issues in South Dakota need to pass with 60 percent in favor. For this vote, only 59 percent were in favor.
The money from the bond would have expanded classrooms and facilities in the growing district.
A similar bond was voted down in September.
