Black Friday Deals

November 22, 2012, 10:00 PM by Peggy Moyer

Black Friday Deals
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

There are 33 shopping days left before Christmas, but already some stores have opened their doors to Black Friday shoppers.

Electronics are in high demand to fulfill Christmas wish lists. Best Buy in Sioux Falls let us take a look at some of these most coveted items.

"I know the electronics is going to be a big battle ground for price so if you're a smart shopper, I think you'll find some good deals there," Best Buy shopper Norm Putnam said.

Putnam and his wife are out shopping the prices ahead of Black Friday.

DealNews.com, an independent website that researches and analyzes all the best deals on the market, predicts smart phones will be the highest demand this year with Androids offering the best sale prices. iPhone 5's are expected to be equally popular, but DealNews doesn't anticipate significant Black Friday deals.

Amanda Hardick is a second year sales associate with Best Buy. She says the store is preparing for great sales especially when it comes to televisions, phones, accessories and tablets.

"The big thing this year is going to be tablets. We're seeing huge growth in that because they're so easy to carry around, access the Internet, play games and just stay connected that way," Hardick said.

iPads ruled the tablet market the last few years, but more competition is available at a lower price. DealNews believes Amazon's Kindle Fire HD and Google's Nexus 7 - coming in around $200 - will give Apple a run for its money. While all three tablets will be in high demand, major deals are expected to be scarce.

With the smaller, more affordable tablets on the market, laptop makers are expected to offer some of the best Black Friday deals of the day.

"I'm kind of looking for the iPad and I need a new computer, so that's what I'm kind of out searching for today, seeing what the prices are and what the Friday deals might be," Best Buy shopper Kristen Scheel said.

According to DealNews, when it comes to gaming systems, you might find the PlayStation 3 as low as $200 and the Xbox 360 at $140. But, with no new models on the market, they're priced about as low as they can go.

Best Buy has stocked up on high definition televisions. Hardick says shoppers are upgrading their televisions and they're looking for the biggest ones their wallets will allow. DealNews predicts 42 inch LCD's will be the best value if space will allow.

Best Buy has been getting in truck loads of products preparing for the Black Friday shopping rush when the store opens at midnight on Thursday.

"It will be busy that day, so bear with us. But, we've got a team that is ready to rock and we're ready to roll to take care of everyone that comes through our doors," Hardick said.

For those who camp out in front of stores to make sure they're first in line to grab the coveted items, DealNews found 70 percent of last years in-store Black Friday deals where also available online.

DealNews also has a list of the ten things Not to Buy on Black Friday and you might be surprised to know that children's toys are on that list.
