"It was just really helpful, the videos, everything they explained was easy to understand," Chornuk said.
"Over the past year and a half, we have had about 15 people use it," Registered Nurse and Child Education Coordinator Deb Vigness said. "The first 12 months it was kind of slow but in the last month, I've had five people sign up. It is becoming more popular."
Their goal for expecting parents is to have them come to the face-to-face childbirth classes but the online class is a good option for those who either live far away or have scheduling conflicts.
"People are looking for options that don't live close to Sioux Falls and so coming to a class at Avera is hard to do but this way they get the information even if they live out in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to get to the classes easily," Vigness said.
"It was really nice to be able to do it in the comfort of our own home," Chornuk said.
The entry free is $75 and the class is open to the public. Even those who don't plan on giving birth at Avera in Sioux Falls are still welcome to sign up.
