SPEARFISH, SD -
A new $8 million science building for research and instruction will be ready at Black Hills State University when students return for the spring semester on Thursday.
It's part of a $74 million project to upgrade laboratories at all state universities. Officials at Black Hills State say student interest in the sciences has been growing. Biology is one of the top three majors at the school.
University President Kay Schallenkamp said the science building also can be used in partnership with visiting researchers at the underground Homestake laboratory in Lead.
