BHSU Hosts Photo Workshop In SD's Black Hills
SPEARFISH, SD -

Photographers from around the nation are gathering at Black Hills State University in Spearfish for a workshop to sharpen their skills in South Dakota's Black Hills.

The third annual Black Hills Photo Shootout runs through Sunday. BHSU photography professor Steve Babbitt says photographers of all skill levels will attend the event, which features classroom work and outdoor workshops at Spearfish Canyon, Bear Butte, Devil's Tower and a tour of ghost towns.

The South Dakota Tourism Department ran the event for two years, but the three-day event now is run by the university and Outdoor Photo Workshops.

Babbitt says last year's event drew more than 100 photographers from 22 states. He says registration for this year's event is running slightly higher.

Professional photographer Rick Sammon will give the keynote address.
