South Central came back from a halftime deficit to beat Potter County 64-54 in a first-round game at the South Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament on Thursday.
Trailing 24-22, the Cougars (22-2) outscored the Battlers 16-10 in the third to take the lead. South Central shot 58 percent from the field and made four of six three-pointers.
Sam Hazen led the way with 19 points, followed by Tyler Frank with 18 points and nine rebounds and Dakota Votaw with 12 points.
Potter County (22-1) suffered its first loss of the year despite a balance offense that included 12 points from Kole Hawkinson, 11 from Tanner Heuer and Chayce Hall and 10 from Tate Nafziger.
