BBB Looking Into Closed Bridal Shop

We first the broke the story to you earlier this week about a Sioux Falls Bridal store closing its doors without notice. After hearing from several customers, we learned many had been trying for weeks, and in some cases months, to reach the owner, Tammy Andrews. Some brides have now gotten their dresses, but many say it was weeks later than it was supposed to be and others are still waiting.
Now the Better Business Bureau has pulled the Interlude Bridal Shoppe's rating until they can find out what’s going on with the business.
Complaints about Interlude Bridal Shoppe closing unexpectedly and calls going unanswered have the BBB looking into the matter.
"It's always concerning to hear allegations where product has been ordered and paid for, but not been delivered. That's always concerning," Jim David said.
David, Operations Director for the Better Business Bureau, says his office has fielded questions and complaints regarding the business and is forwarding them on to the Attorney General's office.
They've also pulled the companies rating from the BBB website because the building now sits empty.
"We take the rating off because everything is so fluid and we want to make sure the rating we give the company is accurate," David said.
When KELOLAND News checked on Tuesday, the company had a 'B' rating, the highest rating it could get. David says Interlude did have two complaints against the business in the last couple years, but says those complaints were resolved by the company. He hopes these new complaints will be as well and says that means communicating with customers.
"Try to alleviate some of that anxiety that might exist, or make a public statement, but make sure you get information out there so people know what to do," David said.
David recommends customers who have an unresolved dispute with the business try contacting the business again. If you can't get a hold of anyone, or still aren't getting your merchandise, he recommends contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Agency.
We tried contacting the owner of Interlude again Thursday for a comment but she did not return our phone call.
Spokeswoman for Attorney General's Office, Sara Rabern, says they've received 15 formal complaints along with several other phone calls about the business. She says investigators are looking into the matter, but says it's too early in the investigation to say what or if any charges will be filed.
