In an order to prevent identity theft, the Better Business Bureau and Crimestoppers teamed up for an annual event Saturday.
There were several drop-off sites in Sioux Falls, including one downtown near the Washington Pavilion. Cars lined up to drop off boxes of paperwork with identifying and personal information. It will be trucked away and shredded by Goodwill employees.
“We are able to, all the paper is turned into recyclables. and the funding that comes back from those recyclables, are actually able to support our mission. We have helped more than 400 people last year in job training and that is one of the ways Good Shreds can help back with that,” Karen Hudson with Good Shreds Business Development said.
Free-will donations were also collected to pay for Crimestoppers, the anonymous tip-line for people reporting crimes and suspects.
