Spink County officials are investigating a barn fire that killed livestock Wednesday.
Redfield Rural Fire Chief Kerry Baird says his department was called to a farm southeast of Redfield after 7 p.m. When firefighters arrived, a steel horse barn was fully engulfed. He says multiple horses and dogs died.
The department remained on the scene between three and four hours. Baird says the building is a total loss.
Officials are still investigating but Baird says the cause is likely electrical. He says a water heater and furnace sat in an area of the barn where the fire started.
He isn’t releasing the owners name at this time.
