PIERRE, SD -
The city of Pierre plans to add banners to Pierre Street in an effort to help beautify the downtown area.
Pierre Downtown Association President Scott Cameron says the association will raise $6,000 for the flagpoles and banners, which can be changed depending on the season.
Pierre city commissioners authorized the project this week.
Cameron says he hopes the 3-foot-by-5-foot and 4-foot-by-6-foot banners will be flying within two months.
On Sunday, workers placed flower planters were along Pierre Street.
