MITCHELL, SD -
A former South Dakota prosecutor who pleaded not guilty to a manslaughter charge in Arizona is to stand trial in August.
Thirty-eight-year-old Dan Gukeisen was indicted in the stabbing death of a 22-year-old man in Tempe in September 2008. Authorities say the stabbing followed an early morning disturbance outside Gukeisen's home.
Gukeisen previously served as a deputy state's attorney in South Dakota's Lawrence County and as the Davison County state's attorney. Most recently he had been working as a bankruptcy lawyer in Arizona.
He faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted.
