Avon Woman Arrested After High-Speed Chase
Shelley Rae Highbear

SIBLEY, IA -

An Avon, South Dakota, woman is behind bars after taking police on a high speed chase before crashing her car.

49-year-old Shelley Rae Highbear is being held in the Osceola County Jail on $3500 cash only bond.

Sheriff’s Deputies say Highbear was approached by an officer for a parking violation. While speaking with the officer it was revealed that Highbear was allegedly trespassing and violating a no contact order.

From there, Highbear took off in her vehicle and sped through the town of Sibley before crashing into a ditch at Exit 48 on Highway 60. Highbear was not injured and was taken into custody.
