Authorities have released the name of the man killed on a snowy road near Renner, South Dakota, on Christmas Eve.
Officials with the Minnehaha County Sheriff's office say 24-year-old Thomas Hinz of Baltic, South Dakota, died when his vehicle slid across the center lane on Highway 115 and was t-boned by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was 64-year-old David Stoterau. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames shortly after the crash.
At this time, authorities don't know what caused Hinz to cross the center line. Officials say it was snowing and slippery at the time of the crash.
Hinz was thrown from his vehicle upon impact and pronounced dead at the scene.
Stoterau was pulled from his burning vehicle by a Good Samaritan at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
