A Pierre radio station reports one person is dead following a single-engine plane crash.
KCCR-AM 1240 says Pierre officials have confirmed that a man was killed in the crash at the Pierre Regional Airport. He hasn't been identified yet.
Airport officials say the plane went down as it was taking off around 9:45 a.m. Witnesses say they have seen other flights arriving at the airport after the crash. A woman who lives near the airport says there are a number of fire trucks and emergency vehicles on the scene.
