LYON COUNTY, IA -
Authorities in Iowa say a 45-year-old woman died in a fiery crash near Larchwood over the weekend.
Monday evening, Lyon County law enforcement said Julie Ann Meeks of Rock Rapids died in the crash.
Hay bales just east of the northwest Iowa town were still smoldering Monday morning, two days after the deadly crash.
Authorities say a vehicle was just west of town on Highway 9 when it went into the ditch and swerved back across the highway into a bean field on the south side of the road. The vehicle crashed into hay bales and started a large fire.
30 bales burned and the person in the vehicle died. Authorities performed an autopsy on Monday in Sioux Falls to confirm Meeks' identity.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office believes a medical condition led to the crash.
