CENTERVILLE, SD -
A man is in custody following an intense afternoon in the Centerville area that included a bank robbery and high-speed chase.
The robbery happened shortly after 1 p.m. at the First Midwest Bank. Bank employees say the robber showed them what looked like a plastic handgun when he demanded money.
Law enforcement officials, including South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers, surrounded Centerville to monitor traffic in and out of town.
When authorities closed in on the suspect, he took off and led them on a high-speed chase. It came to an end west of Turkey Ridge when the man got out of his car and tried to run away.
