A defense attorney for one of two people accused of stealing money from a Pierre bank asked the judge Wednesday not to accept his client's guilty plea for now.
26-year-old Alejandra Corral Madrid had pleaded guilty to bank larceny. She and Misael Ortega, also known as Ismael Espinoza Ortiz, are accused of taking $2,070 from a Pierre bank in November.
Madrid pleaded guilty, but her attorney asked Judge Roberto Lange not to accept the guilty plea until her sentencing in May.
Turner said he "had concerns" about the plea but could not discuss them.
Madrid's sentencing is set for May 29.
Ortega pleaded guilty to bank larceny and illegally re-entering the country after deportation. He will be sentenced on May 29.
