For the second time in 14 days, four pieces of art, totaling almost $1,000, was taken from 8th and Railroad in downtown Sioux Falls.
One piece of art was taken right from the front of Rug and Relic's gallery.
"It's a violation in a way that having your TV stolen isn't. Art is so deeply personal, especially to the person who painted it," Tove Bormes owner of Rug and Relic said.
Workers at 8th and Railroad say it happened a second time on Thursday during business hours. That's when two more pieces were taken from Carly Zebell's setup at the "Artists Fighting Hunger" event.
"It's not like it happened to me, they stole from charity," Zebell said.
The "Artist Fighting Hunger" event is meant for artists throughout the community to get exposure and raise money for Feeding South Dakota. The artists in charge of "Artist Against Hunger" are shocked.
"Not only did you take from a local artist, you also took from a community that is attempting to make a change," Alix Hentges with Artist against Hunger said.
The owners of Rug and Relic said they are ready if this happens again; they now own a major security system.
In both these cases, neither parties contacted authorities they just want their priceless pieces back.
"I hope they have a change of heart and give it back," Zebell said.
"They can return it, they can walk in here, put a bag on the floor and I won't ask a question, just get it back to the people who rightfully own it," Bormes said.
