Co-op Natural Foods store owners are still assessing the damage done to their building after a Sunday morning fire as Sioux Falls police and fire officials try to figure out what happened.
Officials with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said Tuesday they suspect arson because four separate fires were started in the locally-owned grocery store. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue Batallion Chief Mike Top says two of the fires were started in an office area and two others were in store aisles. The heaviest damage was in an aisle where potato chips were set on fire.
Although crews had to deal with four separate fires they had the fire out within five minutes of arriving on scene early Sunday morning. Authorities say no one was in the building at the time of the fire and nobody was hurt.
Store owners say more than $100,000 in inventory is now lost, but the business will rebuild.
Clemens says detectives are looking for witnesses as the investigation continues.
