Arrests Made In New Year’s Eve Saturation Patrol

January 1, 2013, 7:01 AM by Stephanie Gregory

Arrests Made In New Year’s Eve Saturation Patrol
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

They patrolled the city and kept the public safe. Sioux Falls police officers participated in a New Year's Eve saturation patrol.

"Our main goal is going to be oriented towards traffic enforcement, stopping speeders, seat belt violations, as well as hopefully DWI enforcement," Sioux Falls Police Officer Nick Stevens said.

With an extra 16 officers in the field, approximately 40 officers watched the roads on New Year's Eve.

"We've been very busy.  We've been busy with all kinds of different violations.  Tonight there has been a lot of people out and about with the holiday," Stevens said.

The saturation patrol began at 8 p.m. on Monday and ended at 4 a.m. Tuesday; they were out throughout the night keeping you and your family out of harm's way.

"We've been out making sure everybody is being safe for the night," Stevens said.

Police say that can be simple: stay alive and don't drink and drive.
