This weekend's Summit League Tournament will bring thousands into the city of Sioux Falls. Area businesses are excited to see that rush.
Castaways Bar and Grill located nearby the Sioux Falls Arena says after a couple of slow months, they look forward to hosting many people this weekend.
"Being across the street from the Arena and soon-to-be Events Center is a perfect spot for us. It's great to meet all the fans and everyone who comes in is excited and it's really just a great time to be at work," Castaways Manager Brad Palmer said.
Palmer says he's grateful for these big events that will help create a spike in their revenue.
"These tournaments, like the Northern Sun Tournament last week, and now the Summit Tournament this weekend, it brings a ton of business to town and really is a big boost for the Sioux Falls economy," Palmer said.
"The traffic is really big when we have the conventions, when we have the tournaments," Roll'n Pin Restaurant owner Randy Hillman said.
With many options for people to choose from, Hillman says his restaurant offers something unique.
"We're a family dinning type restaurant, so we're open from 6 a.m. until 10 at night, so we get all three meals. We do a lot of homemade food, a lot of scratch recipe-type stuff. We're a little different twist. So we've been around here for a long time and we are looking forward to many more business years to come," Hillman said.
And more business is what many restaurants can expect in the next couple of days.
"Our food orders, our truck orders go up, our liquor orders go up. It's just the more people that are in town, the more business we do and we'll see a good spike this weekend," Palmer said.
