Not including Wednesday, Sioux Falls thermometers have climbed higher than 90 degrees 34 times.
During an average summer, temperatures will hit 90 degrees about 12 times and that's for the entire season.
Here's another perspective of just how hot it's been. We've climbed above 90 degrees more times this summer than every June from 1990 to 1999 combined or every June from 2000 to 2009. This year's 90 degree or warmer heat has also surpassed all of the Augusts from 2000 to 2009 combined.
But beating the heat from the summer of 1988 will be a challenge. That summer the mercury climbed 90 degrees or higher 41 times.
By the looks of the forecast over the final two weeks of the summer, it doesn't look like we'll pass it.
