Annabelle's Twin Sister, Olivia's

June 7, 2007, 9:37 PM by Don Jorgensen

Annabelle's Twin Sister, Olivia's
The Sioux Falls businessman who brought you Annabelle's is opening a second adult super store near Tea.

The six thousand square foot building sits one mile off Interstate 29 at the Tea exit. While it's the same size as Annabelle's, this adult super store will be slightly different and neighbors aren't happy.

It's called Olivia's, Annabelle's twin sister. The brightly painted purple building will be operated by David Elliason, the same man who opened Annabelle's and a storm of controversy two years ago.

"The demand from customers, the feedback...we were getting at the Annabelles location is that they wanted a place they could go and shop in the southwest corridor," said Eliason.

Olivia's will be open 24 hours a day selling everything from x-rated videos, lingerie, gag gifts and sex toys. Olivia's is going to be a lot like Annabelle's, except it's going to have 16 viewing booths and two theaters.

There will be a separate entrance for the theaters, away from the retail part of the store. Neighbors who we talked with find Eliason's business disgusting.

"We run a family business, we got kids and they're out here at times, so we're really concerned what the atmosphere will be like with an adult super store being next door," said Heirigs.

The area was already zoned commercial, so didn't require any public meetings. But Eliason says his business will be clean and the property will be well maintained.

"It doesn't do me any good to have people loitering in the parking lot or sitting in their cars or these types of things, so we police for those types of items with our surveillance equipment," said Eliason.

That doesn't impress Jerry Heirigs who's transmission repair shop is growing.

"As a business owner, I'm at a point where I need to either add on or move and right at this moment, moving seems to be a better option," Heirigs.

Olivia's opens one week from today. It's Eliason's fifth Adult Super Store across the country. The other three are in Indiana, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
