We just wrapped up of a stretch of above average temperatures in Sioux Falls. We saw above average highs from September 26 through October 13.
During that 18-day stretch, Sioux Falls averaged 11 degrees warmer than normal. The highest above average day was October 4 when the mercury hit 86 degrees, which is 21 degrees above average.
But now, reality is back with much cooler air. Temperatures have cooled to the 50s, which not only is a big change, it's actually below average.
Lows on Wednesday morning will dip into the 20s in many locations. The cooler weather will not last, temperatures will return to above average by the weekend, but we are getting a taste of what's to come in the months ahead.
