American Heart Association Wants Rules On E-Cigarettes

American Heart Association Wants Rules On E-Cigarettes

The American Heart Association (AHA) is calling for new rules on E-Cigarettes.

In a statement issued Monday, the group strongly supports laws and regulations that prohibit the sale and marketing to children.

AHA researchers also say E-Cigarettes should also be included in smoke-free laws because so little is known about the long-term health effects.

"This is something that fits into that unregulated spectrum where we don't really know anything about it and we need to know more before we expose the public to a potentially unsafe and dangerous product," Cardiologist Dr. David Frid said.

The American Heart Association is also calling for more research on whether E-Cigarettes are an effective way to stop smoking traditional cigarettes.
