Around 350 Airmen returned to Ellsworth Air Force Base from Southwest Asia this morning.
Those deployed were from the 28th Bomb Wing and were out of the country as part of the support for Operation Enduring Freedom. They were greeted by family, friends and coworkers after being gone for more than six months.
Lt. Col. Joseph Sheffield says the Airmen did a phenomenal job and is proud of all the hard work of the Airmen.
Sheffield was also impressed by the reception the returning Airmen received.
Ellsworth is home to two of America’s three B-1 combat squadrons. During this deployment, aircrews provided critical air presence, precision strike and surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities to support military objectives in that region.
