Air Tanker Crash Impacts Firefighting Efforts

Firefighters in the Black Hills aren't letting Sunday night's plane crash slow them down.

They're still fighting the Highlands Fire, which is near the South Dakota-Wyoming border.  Officials at that fire are still trying to figure out whether it grew overnight.

Five miles northeast of Edgemont, the White Draw Fire is burning grass and timber.  It's now burned 4,200 acres or about six-and-a-half square miles. At last report, it was 30 percent contained. Crews there are keeping a close eye on the weather as thunderstorms are expect Monday afternoon.  About 181 people are working to put that fire out.

Fire crews in the area where a C-130 crashed say with resources stretched so thin between South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado, the loss of any firefighters or equipment has a big impact on the efforts.

We have crews at both fires and will bring you the latest from the battle tonight on KELOLAND News.
