The Aberdeen Development Corp. is looking for new tenants to fill the spots of two departing companies that were pouring half a million dollars a year into agency coffers.
Coventry Health Care, a health insurance company, and Verifications, a company that performs background checks, have either left or will be leaving buildings own by the development corporation.
Coventry Health Care closed in Aberdeen in 2009, but terms of the lease require the company to pay building costs of about $450,000 through 2014.
Verifications plans to close in September, leaving the development corporation to take on about $100,000 a year in building expenses.
Chris Haar, development corporation spokesman, tells the American News (http://bit.ly/O9iitH) that the agency's balance sheet can handle the potential lost revenue for the time being.
