Attorney General Marty Jackley says he's releasing criminal investigative and state grand jury information to the Department of Legislative Audit to assist with its audit of the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
The joint motion filed by Jackley and the Auditor General was approved Friday.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced an investigation into possible financial misconduct before his administration in October, a day after the funeral of former economic development director Richard Benda.
Jackley's investigation found that $550,000 of a $1 million state grant given to Northern Beef Packers was improperly diverted to pay immigration loan monitoring fees. He also found that Benda, whose death was ruled suicide, double-billed the state for three flights.
Jackley says it'll be up to the Auditor General to decide what records will be made public.
