Stocks are under pressure heading into the weekend. The key averages had an indecisive showing in the early going and have since weakened.
- Inflation pressures have begun to ease, but the Consumer Price Index was up 0.4 percent in April. Excluding food and energy, retail prices were up just 0.2 percent last month.
- Fast-food restaurant owner Yum Brands is formally offering to buy most of the remaining shares of Chinese hot pot chain Little Sheep. International restaurant growth, most notably in China, has been a key driver for Louisville-based Yum's profit growth.
- Shares in CA Technologies have staged a double-digit percentage loss today. This, after the company reported fourth-quarter results.
- London could have a floating, half-mile-long walkway on the River Thames in time for the 2012 Olympic summer games. The city's mayor says the pontoon would allow people to stroll on the river from central London all the way to the Tower of London.
