After FEMA Rejection, Gov. Daugaard Seeks SBA Help

After FEMA Rejection, Gov. Daugaard Seeks SBA Help
PIERRE, SD -

Governor Daugaard has asked the Small Business Administration for disaster assistance to help individuals recover from the June storms.

The request comes after FEMA rejected the state’s call for Individual Assistance on Thursday.

If approved, the SBA would provide low-interest loans to help owners of homes and businesses recover from storm damage.

The counties covered would be Jerauld and Lincoln as they are considered primary disaster counties. The counties of Buffalo, Hand, Beadle, Sanborn, Aurora, Brule Minnehaha, Turner, Clay and Union would also be receiving assistance in the program.

The state is forgoing a possible appeal of FEMA’s ruling by asking for SBA assistance. Gov. Daugaard states that since the initial request was denied an appeal would require new damage.
