A South Dakota man indicted for attempted murder and other charges allegedly kidnapped his 10-year-old daughter, fired a gun near her head, struck her with the butt of a gun and shot her dog.
Thirty-five-year-old Clinton Brown, of Presho, faces 14 felony charges and three misdemeanors. He is being held without bond. Calls to his attorney's office were not answered Thursday morning.
Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the indictment by a Lyman County grand jury late last week. An affidavit by Sheriff's Deputy Don Jennings says the grandmother of Brown's daughter called authorities on Aug. 17, saying Brown had barricaded himself inside a rural house with his daughter and was under the influence of illegal drugs.
