Adrian Sod Owner Charged With Tax Evasion

July 24, 2012, 11:12 AM by Ben Dunsmoor

Adrian Sod Owner Charged With Tax Evasion
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The owner of Adrian Sod in Sioux Falls has been charged in a 45-count federal indictment with tax evasion and failing to pay his taxes.

Jerry Adrian, 70, along with 45-year-old Jared Adrian and 76-year-old Raymond Ehrman of Freeman have been charged in the indictment with setting up various ‘sham trusts’ and then funneling money, real estate and assets into those trusts to avoid paying taxes.

Court documents say that Jerry Adrian stopped paying federal income taxes starting in 2001 after he started putting all his money in various trust accounts that were set up illegally.

A federal Internal Revenue Service investigator interviewed Jerry Adrian in 2010 and he told the investigator that his net worth was ‘nothing’ but his trust accounts were worth $5 million.

The three men were charged and appeared in court on Friday.

Coming up later today on KELOLAND News we’ll tell you why Jerry Adrian said he didn’t need to pay his taxes.
