Some South Dakotans hit by recent flooding and a tornado can receive added help from the state for damages to their property.
Qualified residents of Canton and Wessington Springs can apply for a grant up to $5,000 from the Housing Opportunity Fund.
The money can be used for cleanup, restoration, a hot water heater, furnace or appliances, rental payments and utility deposits or a down payment for replacement housing.
The state says federal assistance and insurance proceeds will factor into how much is awarded.
Households at or below 80 percent of the Housing and Urban Development area median income for Lincoln and Jerauld counties are eligible to apply. Applications are available at www.sdhda.org.
